Utah Outdoor Recreation grant $200,000, was awarded for the Shooting Complex, completion date of summer of 2025 or sooner. This will include a pistol range, 300 yard rifle range, two trap shooting houses, archery range, 3D archery trail, and an area for axe and knife throwing. The range will be open to the public during daylight hours. The county property set aside for the range has been surveyed and shooting areas staked out. Initial construction and excavation will start the second week of November 2023.
In October talks began with the Forest Service for the Ski Resort. An updated feasibility plan and a 10% master plan in the form of a pre-application has been submitted. The goal would be to submit the formal application late in January. Slow but moving forward on this huge project.
The Daggett County Museum Complex received a small grant from the Utah Arts and Museum Board totaling $3,750.00 to do repairs in the School Marm building. The inside ceiling has deteriorated substantially. This will be completed before May of 2024.
The Bike/Walking path (1.6 million UDOT grant) is moving forward. Civco Engineering has surveyed and begun work on the layout of the path. A Public Meeting was held on October 19th going over the proposed plans. Completion is expected to be in 2024.
The Rural County Opportunity Grant for $200,000.00 was awarded this month for FY23 & FY24. This funding will go towards completing the Pickleball/Basketball Court. A construction firm has been awarded the project and will be completed in the late spring of 2024. (Weather permitting) Also, additional funds have been designated for the Rodeo grounds. Additional new seating will be provided. Intentions are to have other events in the stadium along with the rodeos. This will also be finished in 2024.
